Energy Leadership Assessment

What Is the ELI Assessment and Why Does It Matter?

Many high performers and emerging leaders hit a point where skill and strategy alone aren’t enough to keep them moving forward. That’s where deeper insight comes in. And one of the most powerful tools I use to help people gain that insight is the Energy Leadership™ Index (ELI) Assessment.

So, what is it exactly?

The ELI is a research-backed, attitudinal assessment developed by the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC). It’s different from personality tests like the MBTI or DiSC. Rather than labeling you as a type or trait, it measures how you currently show up - in both everyday situations and moments of stress.

It gives you a snapshot of your energy across seven distinct levels - from reactive and draining to deeply empowering. And more importantly, it helps you understand how those energy levels influence your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and results.

Why it’s different (and better, in my opinion):

Most assessments tell you who you are. The ELI shows you how you are—and that’s something you can actually change.

Unlike fixed personality types, your ELI results reflect patterns of thinking and responding that you’ve developed over time. Which means with greater awareness (and the right support), you can shift them.

You’ll also see your energy at baseline (when things are going well) and under stress, which can be eye-opening. That contrast often explains why we feel confident in some situations and totally overwhelmed in others.

What the process looks like:

It starts with a short online assessment. Then, we’ll schedule a 1:1 debrief session where we walk through your results, identify key patterns, and connect them to the real-life challenges or goals you’re working toward. From there, we’ll use your insights as a foundation for coaching.

Because once you understand your own energy and how it impacts the way you lead, think, and relate to others, you can start making intentional shifts that create lasting, meaningful change.

The bottom line:

The ELI is about helping you see what’s already there, and learning how to lead from that place with clarity, confidence, and purpose. Whether you're an emerging leader, a seasoned executive, or someone simply ready for something more fulfilling, this is where real transformation begins.

Want to experience it for yourself? Book a call and I’ll walk you through what it would look like to take the ELI and use it as a launchpad for your own growth.
